WEEK 9

21/09/23 NEW YORK Sailed into New York early morning before sunrise and had another beautiful day in the Big Apple. Our embarkation started in Canada so we all had to go through immigration on arrival and took a while before we could get out of the port area. We did our normal stops and then I walked to the public library in 5th Avenue, have been to it before but it is just so impressive and beautiful, I love it. Took a few videos to give you the feel of the place and landed up in the giftshop where I bought us a map of the world to put up at home and think could be nice to put markers in all the places we have been to on our travels. These 11 years have been good to us and have been to so many places in the world ,hubby has been to a lot more that I have but what a privilege even laughed at all the funny things that have happened on the travels and flights while talking about it the other afternoon and am so thankful got to go to Russia and see the Hermitage Museum and its...

WEEK 8

12/09/23 Quebec City Canada Was a nice surprise to see we were not going to be docking far from town but right in the downtown area. Is just so much nicer and closer to everything. I got off late morning put my nose out of the terminal building and decided I would not be walking anywhere today for was raining and a hectic wind was blowing. So landed up in the Wi-Fi area and there I sat for a long time cruising the web and was so nice to just be able to use the internet without having a clock ticking next to you. Will be appreciating our Wi-Fi at home that is for sure. Last night after work hubby asked his colleague to stand in for him so that he could just get off and get some fresh air for a while, has been busy and a new doctor is arriving today. The wind had dropped and was nice to get off and enjoy Quebec City at night. The hotel Chateau Frontenac looks beautiful at night and watches over the city and ocean from the top of the cliff. Early morning, hubby was called out ...

WEEK 7

05/09/23 NEW YORK BEGINNING OF OUR ITINERARY TO QUEBEC CITY CANADA We were docked early this morning; never thought I would be so glad to see New York after our tropical storm encounter! Did not even cross my mind that we could get stuck in Bermuda, after all our visits, this was a first. Just as well hubby stayed behind to meet the boss for, he was called to go and meet him and accompany him aboard. They said it was 33 degrees today but did feel a lot warmer. When I got into the terminal building and saw that only one escalator was working that explained the long rows and slow pace of the disembarkation process today. My first stop was at my favorite cookie shop Levains Bakery 30 min of brisk walking from the ship terminal, they are open from 8 to 8 and this morning I had the shop to myself and even got 1 cookie for free! Decided to try and go on my horse cart ride for the weather was good, the first guys wanted to charge me way too much and after deciding against it I tri...

WEEK 6

30/08/23 NEW YORK I closed our porthole window last night to keep the light out of our cabin I call it a window maar is n baie swaar ronde metaal ding wat jy inhak en inskroef , assume it is there to keep water out in rough seas, just in case! After our wakeup call at 23h00 we went to sleep at about 01.30 and only woke up this morning when the alarm went off! Think we are both tired after being woken up in the middle of the night at different times, so geen rem slaap nie. Told hubby in the next season of our lives no more night calls and weekend work, been there got the T shirt, time for the young ones to take over. The terminal was busy this morning with 2 cruise ships docked next to each other and when we got off it was raining hard, so people were hanging around to stay out of the rain and that caused congestion. So, the porters were screaming and shouting at the people to keep moving to try and keep the flow going, was a bit chaotic at times, I just sat quietly watching...
